Another Marketing Manager Leaves Quicken

Brian Doelle the Search Marketing Team Leader at Quicken Loans has chosen to leave. Mr. Doelle has been credited of building the Quicken Loans search programs from the ground up, resulting in a number of top search engine placements.

The reason for Brian’s departure is unknown, but this does make the 4th marketing person in the last 3 months or so that has chosen to leave the Quicken Loans operation. Unfortunately when cut backs happen the marketing department tends to to feel the pinch first. Does this mean that the these 4 gentleman have received the squeeze? Maybe, maybe not. I have seen a few situations where companies become less and less supportive of marketing initiatives when times get tough and the marketing team becomes dissatisfied and moves on. However, like I said I have no idea what the situation is at Quicken Loans and am only speculating, but they are clearing losing a number of good men over there.

Good luck Brian and we will keep an eye out for you in the future.

I personally worked with Brian when I was a Quicken and he is an SEO ace!

I was in the Quicken Loans Leadership meeting when Dan Gilbert said (pretty much verbatim), “How can we be the Nation’s #1 Online Lender and you can’t even find us if you search in Google for mortgage.” Brian got tagged with this monumental task (those concerned with SEO and the keyword “mortgage” know what I am talking about) and in a few very short months had us rocketed to the top spot on page one! And has keep them there on page one for several years.

    Brian, best of luck!

Local marketing grapevine says it was a very amicable departure and that it really came down to him wanting to climb another mountain outside of finserv. That’s just the grapevine, though.

Not sure I would read too much into this. They still have a pretty formidable marketing department from what I can tell. No layoffs and they are one of the few companies who have made it through the mortgage industry debacle intact. No doubt Brian had built a great program, but he leaves at the top of his game there, which is good for everyone.

Somehow I doubt they would be talking about him on their blog if it was a “push out.” Companies usually want to keep those types of cases low profile, not discuss them in a public forum.

Anyone hear if Countrywide is experiencing any defections?
