There has been change brewing at the first online lead exchange and it has little to do with their website. Rumors have it that there are a couple of key team members leaving the company.
Steve Horton, VP and General ManagerĀ has been rumored to have put in his notice. Steve, who has been very influential in a number of companies including XSell, LowerMyBills and Insweb. He will no doubt be missed at LeadPoint.
Even more startling are the rumors of the exodus of co-founder Marc Diana.
Marc who founded LeadPoint with partner Per Pattersen was said to have announced to the company a few weeks ago that he will be stepping down from his position of CEO. It is not know to me whether he will maintain a role at LeadPoint or will be leaving the company altogether, but it has been said that current COO Gina Anastasi will take over the role of CEO.
A press release will probably not be sent out to confirm these rumors and only time will tell. If they are true this will prove to be a turning of a new page for LeadPoint. As these changes become factual it will be interesting to see how the company positions itself for a bounce back. It is kown that they have received numerous rounds of funding and because of this will need to make significant changes and these are porbably just the start.
Lead Exchanges have always been a hot topic here and one of the major opinions is that they can’t work in the lead gen space. Is this simply more proof?
I frankly don’t think so. Rather I think that like many companies they may have been a little top heavy and therefore made it difficult to implement changes swiftly.
Your thoughts?

Aaah, The ever present Spam, I hear it’s quite popular in this economic downturn….:)
Noel,
I took care the spam, no more comments from that source moving forward
LeadCritic,
Everything is fine over at LeadPoint. During these interesting economic times I’d suspect most companies are tightly monitoring costs and performance, LeadPoint is no exception.
I’m still the CEO of LeadPoint, we do have a COO who has been here for about 6 months and I am continuing to transition internal operating components of the business over so I can be more externally focused.
Which means I’ll have more time to spend with you
Marc
CEO at LeadPoint
There you go, clarification has been made.
Thanks Marc
Always an interesting read. The lead exchange launched by Reply.com is doing well and is contributing to our growth. I think we can all agree that as lead scoring matures, the lead gen 1.0 model will have to migrate to a model where both buyers and sellers have more control. We believe we offer those controls at Reply.
