With a fancy web 2.0 name and everything Quicken Loans releases their own personal finance portal, Quizzle. Despite probably using this tool to think of the name, Quizzle is a good attempt at creating more value for their customers. What is Quizzle? It is a personal finance tool that features your home value, free credit report from Experian, mortgage advice, budget and debt/income information.
The sign up process was similar to a typical mortgage form, but did not ask for a social security number, which was inviting. They do force you to play trivia pursuit on your life history, though. It is always fun when you are stumped by questions about yourself. I chalked it up to my college years, if you know what I am saying
With in minutes I was signed up and ready to analyze my financial conundrum.
The interface is based on a Quizzle score that takes into count the 4 features I mentioned above.
My Quizzle score was a whopping 82 out of 100. Why not a hundred? Well, there are some things you cannot control and when you live in California the one thing you have no control of is the value of your house, which has been tanking the last 6 months. The score gives you a letter grade on the appreciation of your house and I got an F. I did however receive 97% for my credit score, which was an 838. Yep, view it and reap. No photoshop here!

Quizzle also gives you a value for your house. Now like most borrowers these days I think it was a little off. What AVM is accurate anyway. Either way it was a very simple interface that used Google Maps and listed the nearest comparable home sales in your area.
Quizzle is supposed to give you mortgage related recommendations. I am not sure if this is good or bad, for some reason I am thinking it is bad, but Quizzle was unable to provide any recommendations for me at this time. Yikes!
They also a took a page out Mints book and created an interface that allows you manage your budget. Not quite on the same level, but rounds out your financial analysis a bit more. Overall the tool was fun and informative. Not exactly perfect and it has a way to go before it is, but it does add value and keep an open dialog with the Quicken Loans customers base.

The question is…how long before a Quicken Banker calls you? =) Pretty slick.

Sorry for the delayed reponse but I want to make sure folks are clear on this… If you sign up for Quizzle, a Quicken Loans banker — or anyone else for that matter — will NOT call you (unless you ask us to). You also won’t get spam in your inbox. Happy Quizzling!

Thanks Ann,
Do you think that perception has been a barrier to some?
I can attest that I did not receive any calls or emails from Quicken Loans after signing up.
