IAB Releases Lead-Gen Best Practices

The Interactive Advertising Bureau released its version of Lead Generation Best Practices the other day.

It covered basic privacy policy and data disclosure issues as well as the consumer experience topic.

Simple offers usually do not ask for additional information or custom form fields and are generally characterized by only a yes/no answer or opt-in box. The practice of pre-selecting the β€œyes” or the opt-in box β€” which, in effect, automatically signs up the consumer for that offer without him/her having to take any further affirmative action β€” is considered to be an opt-out offer and therefore should not be used.

Most of the issues covered are fairly basic for lead generation companies to follow, however standardizing them and putting them down on paper is always a good idea.
