The lead industry can seem quite small at times where everyone is 2 connections away from each other. I also think many of us never look to other industries for innovation or ideas and get stuck in our own little ruts. Now I may be completely wrong, however I was reading one of my favorite blogs, Atul Patel and he mentions the Silo effect on the lead management field. For starters Atul does a great job bring many of the discussions we have here at LeadCritic into perspective. His underling point, and I am going to put my own spin on it here, is that sometimes we think we are being innovative or we have secret sauce, but in reality its old news or just a bad idea. Now, let me clarify, I am not referring to the ”Pull Method” specifiacally but I am being very general when I say that.
Now this next thought is about 2 connections away from the point of Atul’s article, but how harmful is it to you or to us as an industry when we hold back our views and opinions because we are afraid we are going to give something away? I think Atul, with is blog “Ideas Everywhere” actually shatters the idea of secrecy and opens his thoughts to the world and as probably received more ideas and opportunities because of it .
Aside from speaking out and spreading your viewpoints I think it is also important to look to other industries for ideas. What a great idea Atul gives away with is speculation on what Kaleidico is up too. How phenomenal would it be to manage all your lead sources, including your Internet Marketing from your LMS. I don’t even think this would be a crazy integration with all the API’s available from many of the large ad networks. An LMS could even build off of others developments and here.
I just wanted to drop you guys a quick note to check out the post and give kudos to Atul for doing the research. Oh and by the way, if you do read his blog from time to time you will notice he changed his theme/look of his blog again. I think he does it for every post he writes! You can see what happens when you have too much time on your hands. lol
