Wow, this had probably been the longest time I have gone without a post. Since my layoff I have been quite busy discussing different opportunities and jobs offers. And additionaly any time I am home my wife goes on “vacation”, which is well desrved, but I gotta tell ya I was hoping to get a few rounds of gold in during my time off and I don’t think that is going to happen!
So I was just catching up on all my Google Alerts and RSS feeds and came across Tree.com. Is that a new logo or have I been out of the loop for some time? Well, to me it looks new, however it may not, but I must say I don’t like the look. Do you? Their LendingTree logo, in my opinion is nice, clean, classy and elegant, but this Tree logo seems to be trying to hard to be “2.0″ and I simply don’t think that is going to do has well has the LendingTree look. Maybe their going for something different. One thing that seemed to work for LendingTree, especially taking into consideration their traditional marketing model (i.e. Television, radio and print) was the elegant and professional look the logo gave off.

I get what they what they were trying to do, which was to put a new updated spin in the leaf and font, but question it. Just for kicks, what do you guys think?
Sorry, there are no polls available at the moment..

I’ll break from convention. I like the new one.
Mike I do like the traditional LT logo and voted that way however they are trying to draw a distinction between LT and Tree I think. As they enter new verticals I am guessing the same thing that works in lending won’t work in Edu or Insurance.
That being said I also like the new logo as well. I am actually pretty happy with the current direction Tree.com is taking now that Doug is back. Their recent hire of Mark Fowler is a good one in my mind and some of their major projects are good ones.
I am with you Lead Buyer and think LT is up to some very good things and understand the idea of rebranding and separating the two, because they are totally different. I am just don’t like the look and think this web 2.0 look isn’t quite right. I also like the elegant look of the LT logo and think the could have possibly blended elegance and cutting edge technology together to have a different logo.
But listen, its just my two cents and something to talk about. I am sure it will work just fine, regardless of my opinion.
